Climbing Pisco (5495m) is a very good option for begginers. On the way up or down to the base camp you can visit the famous lake 69.

Itinerary

Day One: Cebollapampa-3,900 meters—- Base Camp

We leave early from Huaraz at about 6 AM in a bus. It takes 3 hours to arrive at Cebollopampa. En route we stop for breakfast and to pay the fee to enter Parque Nacional Huascaran. Continuing we observe 2 beautiful lakes: Chinagocha and Orococha whose name is Llanganuca, which changes color according to the angle of the sun. Finally we arrive at Cebollapampa where the donkey drivers await us to transport all the mountaineering equipment. This journey will take us about 4-5 hours uphill until the Base Camp at Pisco, at 4,665 meters above sea level.

Day Two: Cumbre-Nevado Pisco-5,495 meters. Base Camp.

We leave at 3 AM with all the necessary equipment. We walk up a plane of rocky ground which will take us 3 hours until the moraine camp. Here we begin to be on snow. We climb up a steep slope, passing by a hill, edging along some small crevices until we arrive at the peak which will take us about 4-5 hours. From this point we will have a great panoramic view of these majestic mountains such as Huascaran, at 6,768 meters, Alpamayo, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Arteson. After taking photos we begin to descend by the same path until we reach the pase camp where we can dry our equipment.

Day Three: Base Camp-4,900 meters-Huaraz-3100 meters.

As is our custom, we descend after breakfast at around 8 AM, which will take us about 3 hours until Cebollapampa. On the way we observe a variety of flowers and plants that decorate the landscape. Once in the zone of Cebollapampa the bus will await us to take us back to Huaraz, which will take about 3 hours.
